Frequently Asked Questions
Questions? We have answers.
Shortly after getting married, I built a coffee table for my wife. After catching the itch to build pieces for my family, I started a side hustle in my garage selling to people around the city. As time went on, I became busier and busier with woodworking orders. I took the leap of faith, quit my corporate job to pursue the business, and have enjoyed every opportunity to run it ever since.

Absolutely. We understand that ordering a custom piece online can be intimidating at times. We'd love to meet you and put your mind at ease by showing you some wood and finish samples, as well as potentially a project that's nearing completion!

We use hardwoods on each and every one of the pieces that we build. The main woods that we offer are alder, hickory, cherry, white oak, and walnut. However, we're more than happy to give you a custom quote for another species if you'd like.
Through the years, we've learned things through the construction and wood selection process that help us ensure that your table will last for years and generations to come. Our hardwoods are hand-selected, carefully constructed, and completely solid, making the durability and predictability of your piece much better.
To learn more about each type of wood we use and the characteristics of each, check out our Wood and Finish Guide.
After sanding to a highly fine grit, we apply the stain color of your choice by hand, before moving on to our finishing process. We use a low sheen, high performance water-based lacquer finish on all pieces constructed from alder, hickory, or cherry. On our white oak and walnut pieces, we give the option to have the piece finished in a matte and raw finish of Rubio Monocoat.
Rubio Monocoat, which was originally designed for commercial flooring, does a great job of protecting the wood from every day use and abuse of breakfast cereal, arts and crafts time, and water spills, while still maintaining a very natural and raw finish. There are different options of stain colors for this product as well.
For more information, options, and examples of stain, paint, and finishes, please see our Wood and Finish Guide.
Generally, we are able to produce an order within 4-5 weeks. However, we understand that you may want to show off your new piece for a get-together or holiday, so we're willing to add a rush service fee of $200 to guarantee that it's ready within 2 weeks of ordering - just let us know in the order notes at the time of checkout.
If you have any questions or concerns about our current turnaround time, please don't hesitate to contact us.
We offer delivery to the Kansas City metro area for $150 per order. We are proud to partner with local moving company YTB, owned and operated by a friend from our church. They do an incredible job of ensuring that your new piece is moved into your home perfectly by wrapping each product with moving blankets and paying extra attention to every inch of the piece. If you ask nicely, they'll usually even move your old table for you.
Beyond Kansas City, our delivery prices vary. If you live outside of Kansas City and would like to place an order (with the exception of a smaller piece like a cutting board or home design, which can be mailed), please contact us for a quote before placing an order.
While we highly recommend having your piece delivered, you're always welcome to schedule a pickup time from our shop for free if you'd like.
Not necessarily. If you would like to get on our orders list to ensure that you have your piece complete for the holidays or a specific date, but aren't ready to pay in full yet, please contact us via this form to get your order started and we can take a "good-standing" deposit electronically via PayPal or Venmo offsite. In those instances, we ask for half-down or $500, whichever is less, and take the remainder of the payment upon completion/delivery.
While we don't foresee anything happening to the overall construction of our pieces, we do offer to repair anything that we failed to build or finish correctly on our pieces for free, should something come up.
We understand that sometimes "life happens": your dog scratches your tabletop, you get a deep water stain on the table from a spill, etc. In those instances, we would charge a reasonable fee for the labor and equipment rental involved to re-finish your piece.
